The film stars a cast of actors who all use their real first names as their characters presumably because nobody wanted to edit their Zoom profiles or because the film was made up on the spot and keeping track of seven different fake character names would be too hard. Host feels like Rob Savage said “how many played out tropes can we stuff into an hour long movie?” It’s like the film equivalent of the chubby bunny game, except everything is stale and nobody wins. Yea, we’re doing one of those films again. Brought to us by the fantastic director Rob Savage best known for jack shit you’ve ever seen, Host is a horror movie shot entirely on Zoom.

In the world of Coronavirus it was only a matter of time before we got a cheap horror movie shot entirely in quarantine, and that film is Host. It's a must watch in foreign horror and after you watch, you'll know why it's so well regarded.Actually that’s not true, because Host is already many years out of date. The Wailing is funny, more than I thought it would be, but it's not a comedy at all. Pee Mak is a very gentle, mostly funny, slap stick, and ultimately very sweet horror movie. Highly recommend you see this one and check out the other 2. It also really plays with our own prejudices and confirmation bias. The Wailing is layered, scary as hell, and plays on some of the same themes you'll see in Medium, namely belief systems, folklore, and the supernatural.

Both are wildly different, Pee Mak is a beautiful, funny, and sweet little horror film. It's also got ties to two other fantastic films, Pee Mak, and The Wailing, thanks to the writer & producers coming together here. If you like foreign horror that plays with folklore, differing beliefs, and the supernatural it's a must. it's one of my personal best 20 horror films i watched last year. it's well fleshed out with the lore it's playing with. IMO the best mock documentary horror film I've seen.
